When I was younger, I just drew and drew and drew and assumed that when I was older I'd be better. And I did get better. But since I'd say 2-3 years ago, my art has died. I draw the same things again and again and no improvement comes from it. I cant recreate something I've already drawn, my people-drawing skills have remained stagnant, and my writing has plateaued. I see people who couldn't write before creating poetry more beautiful now, people who couldn't draw as well as I could before surpassing me in so many ways. I have hit my art wall. I was always told I was very artistically minded, but if this is as high as my skills will go, how can that be? I look through deviantart and see things I can't believe were drawn with a human hand. When I was little, that was always what I aspired to do. Now, that looks like a completely, 100% unrealistic goal. My only hope of coming even CLOSE would be to throw away everything else I am doing with my life and in my life and focus literally 24/7 on improving my drawing, which I cannot do. As much as drawing and painting and art in general is a large part of my life, I also love music and science and my friends and I don't think I should throw that away to achieve here. If you haven't noticed, I haven't added any drawings to my deviantart anymore. I'm embarrassed to put my stuff up, because it looks exactly the same as things from years ago. Not that I have much to add...I've been really discouraged from drawing. Who wants to draw something at the age of 17 that looks the same as something they drew when they were 14? I've just reached the end of this artistic line I guess...I have no where else to go with my "talent."
